Stallion owners, mare owners and exhibitors – nominate your stallion of choice today so that his foals can compete for the substantial purse!

For a nomination fee of $300.00, any stallion owner, mare owner, or derby exhibitor/owner can nominate a stallion to the Stallion Stakes, making all foals sired by that nominated stallion eligible for entry in the annual Stallion Stakes. Also any Stallion that was sold and paid for during our Stallion Auction is automatically paid up for the Stallion Stakes Class. The Stakes will run concurrently with the Annual Fall Derby held each year.
The annual nomination fee per stallion is as follows:

Nomination fee paid by October 1, 2010: $300
Nomination fee paid after October 1, 2010: $300 plus $150 late fee

Distribution of nomination fees collected: 80% of nomination will be added to the purse as added money and 20% will be maintained for the program advertising and administration. Penalties will be included in fees collected. Any entry in the Open or Non Pro Derby who is by a nominated sire to the Stallion Stakes program (whether “nominated” by paying the aforementioned nomination fee or by participating in the ORCHA Stallion Service Auction) is eligible to compete for the Stallion Stakes purse by paying the entry fee for the Derby.

The top composite scores for the Stallion Stakes entries in the Open and Non Pro Derby will be eligible for the Stallion Stakes Purse. The total purse (80% of nomination fees) will be prorated between the Open and Non Pro entries based on the total number of entries in the Stallion Stakes in each class. The payout for each event will be distributed according to the number of entries as suggested by the NRCHA rule book.

An incentive prize of 20% of the total purse will be distributed to the “sire nominators” of the highest 3 finishers of each class (Open & Non Pro Derby) of the Stallion Stakes. 10% will be paid out to the Top 3 in the Open and 10% will be paid out to the Top 3 in the Non Pro. The distribution of the 10% will be as follows, 5% to first place, 3% to second place, and 2% to third place. The “sire nominator” is either the person that paid the stallion nomination fee or, in the event the stallion became eligible through the donated breeding program, the stallion owner.
