Rookie Pro & Open Green Horse

We decided we needed a place for existing horse trainers who have never ridden a cow horse to give it a try. (You must not have been down the fence 3 times) So we created the Rookie Pro. The Open Green Horse is a schooling class for horses getting started in the cow horse.

Rookie Pro
In the Rookie pro, you will execute the reining pattern as written, hesitate to show you are finished, turn to face the cattle pen and nod your head to call for your cow. You will just box the cow on the end of the arena for 50 seconds. The judge will blow the whistle when time is up. If you happened to draw a bad cow, you might be giving a new cow. The judge will blow the whistle 2 times if you have been given a new cow. A bad cow is a cow that won't honor your horse, is chargy or is lame or blind.
Equipment: Any NRCHA, NRHA or AQHA legal bridle is legal for this class. Horses must be shown one handed in the bridle. Hackamores and snaffles are fine for horses aged 5 and under.

Open Green Horse
This class is open to any rider, at any level. The horse must not have been down the fence more than 2 times in order to be eligible for this class. This class is designed to get inexperienced horses in the pen and is a schooling class. Again, ride the reining pattern as written and box the cow for 50 seconds.
Equipment: Any NRCHA, NRHA or AQHA legal bridle is legal for this class. Horses can be shown two handed in the bridle. Hackamores and snaffles are fine for horses aged 5 and under.
